Watercolour pet portraits by Nicola Elliott

Beautiful paintings lovingly created from your favourite photos.

About me

Hi I’m Nicola, a self-taught watercolour artist with a background in graphic design, based in Perth, Western Australia. I specialise in watercolour paintings of dogs (as well as cats, birds and horses). Pet portraits make fantastic gifts; they are thoughtful and timeless – perfect for animal lovers who treasure their pets as family.

Pricing and Process

A4 portrait $290, including mount.

I use quality materials and pigments from Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith artists watercolours. Portraits are completed on 100% cotton archival watercolour paper (Arches or Baohong). All portraits are created on an A4 sheet and sized to fit a mount with a 8×10 inch opening, or 20x20cm opening if a square composition suits the portrait better. Paintings are supplied presented with a mount and cellophane sleeve. Framing is available, call to discuss options.

As I work from photographs, it is very important to provide good quality photos that are in focus and have plenty of detail. I can only paint what I see! Get in touch and I can give you some tips. If it’s not possible to take new photos send me what you have and we can have a chat about which will make the best portrait. Try to allow 3-4 weeks for the finished portrait (if you’re in a rush contact me and we can discuss your timeline).

This is why I love what I do…

We absolutely love our watercolour of our old girl Charli. So lifelike, especially her eyes. Nicola captured our beloved girl so well, highly recommend A Dog A Day. Thanks so much.

Nicola painted my dog for me and I am so pleased with how she has captured my dog and its essence. Highly recommend!

I just want you to know that your painting of Ivory is something that I will never be able to thank you for enough. I cannot go into our bedroom without talking to him. I look into his eyes and he is alive for me… you have done that for us. You have made Ivory immortal and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
